You are probably experiencing health symptoms with your testes. Maybe you have found a lump or having testicular pain and you need quick answers but most importantly exclude testicular cancer.
This is why you have chosen to skip the hospital queue and book a private testicular ultrasound.
This scan will be able to establish what causes your symptoms. Although most of the symptoms associated with the testes and the scrotal sack are benign, the ultrasound scan will be able to confirm and exclude any sinister findings such as testicular cancer.
What is the purpose of this scan?
The testicular ultrasound includes evaluation of:
- Scrotal sack
Reasons for having a testicular scan include:
- Testicular pain or ache
- Swollen testes
- History of infection
What is included with this testicular scan?
- Ultrasound report and if needed, a follow-up recommendation.
No preparation is necessary for this private testicular scan.
What should I expect during the testicular scan?
Before your testicular scan, our sonographer will explain the ultrasound scan examination procedure.
You will be asked to lie on your back and lower your trousers and underwear.
A small amount of water-based gel will be applied to your scrotum. The gel will help the transducer to make good contact with the skin. The probe will be moved in different directions over the area of interest to obtain the required information/ultrasound images.
There is usually no discomfort from pressure as the ultrasound transducer or probe as otherwise known, is pressed against the area being examined. However, if scanning is performed over an area of tenderness, you may feel pressure or minor discomfort from the transducer.
Once the imaging is completed, the clear ultrasound gel will be wiped off your skin. Any portions that are not wiped off will dry quickly. The ultrasound gel does not usually stain or discolour clothing.
This imaging test is usually completed within 20-30 minutes. After an ultrasound examination, you should be able to resume your normal activities immediately.
